Play4peace
AIM OF THE PROJECT
The project aimed to support the inclusion, wellbeing, and social integration of disadvantaged young people, especially refugees from Ukraine and other countries, by using sport as a tool for connection, psycho-social support, teamwork, and community participation. It also aimed to strengthen the capacity of youth workers and sports staff to work with these groups in a more inclusive way.
MAIN ACTIVITIES
The project began with an initial meeting, where the partners coordinated the work plan, roles, and implementation steps. It then included a training course for youth workers in Hungary, focused on inclusive methods, working with refugees and disadvantaged youth, and adapting sport activities to different needs. A key part of the project was the mobility in Slovakia, where young participants and youth workers took part in sport-based learning activities, sessions on prejudice, stereotypes, bullying, and hate in sport, and practical team-building experiences. The project also included the Play 4 Peace Conference in Romania, where results, experiences, and good practices were shared with a wider audience. At the end, the partners held a final meeting in Turkey to review the project and its outcomes. Alongside these international activities, the project also organised local festivals and tournaments, national workshop series, webinars for youth workers, and the development of a multilingual toolkit to support the inclusion of refugees and disadvantaged youth through sport.
