GET UP – Gender Equality Toolkit Using Pedagogy

AIM OF THE PROJECT

The project aimed to promote gender equality in sport through the development of innovative educational tools and activities for children.
It focused on challenging gender stereotypes from an early age, improving the visibility of women in sport, and encouraging equal access for girls and boys to sport and physical activity through education in and through sport.

MAIN ACTIVITIES

TThe project brought together organisations from several European countries with expertise in sport, education, research, gender equality, and pedagogical tool development to create a collaborative educational toolkit for children aged 8 to 11. This toolkit was designed to combine games, physical activities, and stories of female role models in sport, with the aim of making learning about sport history, diversity, and equality more playful and interactive. The project also included a research phase to analyse the national context in each partner country, map existing educational tools, and better understand gender inequalities and stereotypes in sport. Based on this work, the partners developed and tested pedagogical materials that could be used by teachers and educators to address gender diversity and equality in sport. The project also built on previous good practices and experiences of the consortium, with the ambition to transfer and expand these educational approaches at
European level.

SSO cooperated on project together with ADEL Slovakia.
